Shuggie Otis

Shuggie Otis, born 1953, is the son of Johnny Otis, a rhythm and blues musician. He started performing in his youth and released his first record in 1970. He not only writes songs, but also plays guitar, piano, organ, and bass. He has recorded with Frank Zappa, Al Kooper, Etta James, and Eddie Vinson, and more recently Mos Def. The Brothers Johnson's version of his composition "Strawberry Letter 23" reached #1 in the Billboard rhythm and blues chart and #5 in the Billboard pop chart in 1977. Shuggie's albums include: "Here Comes Shuggie Otis", "Freedom Flight" and "Inspiration Information".

African Queen

African Queen are a five piece femme-fronted neo-psychadelic rock movement from east London and the surrounding area that emerged in 2007. The band's eclectic sound draws on shoegaze elements of the late 1980s and early 1990s; as well as dragging up 60's inspired tones to form a contemporary psych-rock sound typical of bands such as The Warlocks, The Black Angels or The Morning After Girls. The band are currently playing frequent shows in and around London whilst recording their first full-length album with producer and techno DJ Johnny Arthur.

Son Lux

Son Lux is Ryan Lott. His debut recording, At War With Walls and Mazes (2008), earned him the title of "Best New Artist" by NPR's All Songs Considered. 23frames

23frames formed in late 2004 as the result of the breakup or fragmentation of other bands, or the general dissatisfaction with same. Starting out rehearsing in a freezing, leaky studio in an old ex gin-distillery, it soon seemed that a distinctive and not unpleasing noise was beginning to emerge, echoing down the musty corridors. A set of pretty cohesive songs was soon conceived, and this set of songs was recorded in late 2006, this time in the equally salubrious setting of an east-end squat.

The Sun Blindness

The Sun Blindness are a psychedelic band - based in Melbourne, Australia. Formed in 2004, they play druggy, dreamy, harmony-driven psychedelia. Indebted in spirit to bands such as the 13th Floor Elevators and The Doors, their sound channels & celebrates 45 years of psychedelic music history. 2008 saw the release of their debut album 'Like Pearly Clouds' in Australia by indie label Sensory Projects.
