vondelpark

SURREY VIA PECKHAM, UK (2009 - present) London’s mysterious Vondelpark fall through blue, and the flocks, as at ease as rain, ‘California Analog Dream’ rubbed with morose machinery, XX-isms and a 2-step pulse with an almost ironic kick. Resigned, languid, sunburnt, sullen – I guess it’d be kind of arduous to be conscious of every breath. DEBUT SINGLE/EP : OCTOBER 2010

Dudley Perkins

As a vocal muse for Madlib’s creations, Dudley is unmatched; he’s earned first pick at Madlib’s prized beat collections. Just like Madvillain or Quasimoto, the Dudley/Madlib combination is a facet unto its own – on par with the most illustrious collaboration projects in Madlib’s catalog. His dynamic sophomore effort, entitled Expressions (2012 A.U.), takes an extended detour in the direction of Parliament’s Mothership Connection. The funk is strong this time around – as is the soul music that brought tears to the eyes of Dudley’s and Madlib’s aunts and uncles back in the golden days.

Kneebody

Aaron Cohen - Downbeat "Kneebody Creating a New Language" At first, it seems that Kneebody chose a name that intentionally invited anonymity. After speaking to a couple members of the quintet, it becomes clear that they also took a firm stance against presenting a single bandleader. Equally crucial is that they wanted to invent a word that conveys no preconceived musical connotations. "It's a nonsense word that my girlfriend came up with," said saxophonist Ben Wendel. "We wanted a short, memorable word with a nondefinable genre connection.
