Kashii

"Absolutely of the moment gear from Kashii. All the house and garage influences that will draw comparisons with Floating Points, Joy Orbison and the like. We are very pleased to have been given "Tru Da City" upfront by Southern Fried." - Bleep

Aches

Aches is twenty-four year old producer and visual artist Jonny Fox from Sheffield UK currently based in Bratislava, Slovakia. His recently released debut EP (via Exitab) brims with melancholic guitar sketches, compressed artifacts, ambient textures and breathing percussion which teams with the rhythms of UK garage and spacey Jungle; Whispers are skewed, embedded in the ambiance, fading in hazy dense textures.

Kahn

New year, new blood. Kahn steps forward from the shadows of the Bristol underground to deliver a killer double A side debut 12” release for Punch Drunk Records. The immediacy of Kahn’s brand of electrostatic synths and stirring, moody grooves are sure to rapidly ascend his profile in 2011. "Like We Used To" strikingly layers a neck snapping rhythm with mutated soulful vocals, whilst "Helter Skelter" brings enough irresistible bump and flex to move any dancefloor. Kahn’s basslines may eminate from Bristol, but prepare to feel the resonance worldwide.

Artist Type:

Phon.o

The boy with the dot in his name and the dubby background, started to play records in
the early 90s far in the darkest reaches of the ruff'n'tuff Harz mountains, in former East Germany. This little country bumpkin practiced dilingently every night by candlelight at his aunt's farm.
1994. Phon.o cites the hay in the barn, the dirt in the fields and the sheep form calling him from beyond the hills as strong early influences of his deep and dirty style. In these times he got his first turntables and used every free hour to practise in his hidden secret cottage.

Stubborn Heart

What's so good?
So this has been sold as being for “fans of the three Js” – James Blake, Jamie xx and Jamie Woon. Needless to say, I was immediately interested. But which J does this mysterious London producer sound most like? At first, I was inclined to say Woon, the soulful vocals carried by a bassy melodic tune. As the song progressed, though, my view switched to Blake, with the interference and spacing bringing him to mind. By the end, I thought Jamie xx, as deep bass cut in and the drum pattern started to sound more and more garage-esque.
