The Notes

The Notes are based in Southampton at the moment, studying at separate universities, the subjects being Popular Music and Record Production, and English. The band wrote and recorded these songs very recently in their living room using a drum machine, two guitars (1 pitch shifted), a voice and a pen. Tumblr blogger yvynyl has this to say about The Notes: "Take The XX’s slow, dark n’ sexy, turn up the tempo a notch, but keeps the lights low and the candles burning and you have London’s brand new band The Notes.

The Dresden Dolls

The Dresden Dolls are an American musical duo from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Formed in 2001, the group consists of Amanda Palmer (vocals, piano, ukulele, toy piano, harmonica) and Brian Viglione (drums, percussion, guitar, vocals). They describe their heavily art-damaged and theatrical style as "Brechtian ", a phrase invented by Palmer because she was "terrified" that the press would invent a name that "would involve the word ''," and are part of an underground movement that started gaining momentum in the early 1990s.

The Puncture Repair Kit

The Puncture Repair Kit are a rickety chamber-pop band from Cambridge. There are 6 of them: Matthew, Lozzy, Becky, Rachel, Kellye and Mark, and they play instuments including guitar, bass, drums, flute, violin, cello, accordian, glockenspiel, banjo. Everybody sings and the audience all go home with a warm fuzzy feeling, a nagging sense of unease and possibly a badge or something. The Puncture Repair Kit started in March 2007 and have no clue how to make it stop. They have been told that they sound a bit like The Delgados, Arcade Fire, Belle & Sebastian and Architecture In Helsinki.

Tissue Culture

Tissue Culture are a seriously noisy bunch of young lions from Newcastle. They haven’t been around a long time, but they’ve already built up an impressive TishCult following. What’s more exciting is that they seem to be getting better with each deafening, thrilling live show. Their first release on Tiny Lights, Saint Waleric was released on October 29th 2012, and celebrated with an awesome party at The Cluny 2 on Halloween. SmithBellHendazPottaReed
