Tall Poppies

The Tall Poppies are from Perth, Australia. So let’s not pretty this up now, for what they lack in enviable roots they make up for in charisma. There is indeed no-holds-barred at this party, and everyone’s invited.
They’re blissfully out of step with current fashions, but aren’t all the best bands? Although most bands think they are unique, few are. Tall Poppies, twins Susan and Catherine, are possibly inimitable. Their music is whimsically clever and the lyrical storytelling is enigmatically amusing while grasping the imagination and daring it to think outside the circle of the CD.

Great Waves

Great Waves officially began in an old portable converted classroom at Pine Lake Middle School. Paul told his desk-mate Will that he could "play bass and sing real good... Chris Cornell style." Although Paul never quite backed up his claim, the two became friends and over the years played in several bands together. After adding Ashley on lead vocals and later Ryan on drums, they found collaborators that pushed the band to become greater than the sum of its parts.

Flyscreen

Back in the days when Newport was famous for fighting and everyone was skipping about to Brit Pop (a lethal combination, I’m sure you’ll agree) Flyscreen were the big kids in the playground - harder, louder and angrier than anyone else without stealing your dinner money. Together with 60ft Dolls, Dub War and Novocaine they created their own particular brand of post-grunge mayhem – a punk-pop cocktail of thrashing guitars with pithy, often witty songs about school, football and shagging.
