(There is more than one artist by this name - this article refers to Australian band "The Basics" who have released the records 'Stand Out/Fit In', 'Call It R&B', 'For Girls Like You' and 'Get Back') The Basics, whose musical style could loosely be described as heavily referencing 60s pop and rock (such as The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Kinks etc) with elements of rock 'n' roll, reggae and rhythm and blues mixed in,were formed after Kris Schroeder and Wally de Backer met at a party in Melbourne.

Christine Anu is an Australian pop singer/songwriter/actress of Torres Strait Islander descent. She is an Australian icon, and her cover of “My Island Home” is the song that she is most known for. She studied dancing at school, thinking that it would lead her into a singing career. She has also worked as a cultural ambassador for Torres Strait Islanders, and she is associated with the "Deadlys" - the national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, sport, entertainment and community awards.

The Dirty Delinquents

The Dirty Delinquents were created at the start of 2010, when Meg was bored of the same old sounding bands in the local area, so wanted to get a group of like minded musicians to make something special.
Meg managed to find two musicians Switch and Tom S, whom like her had a mutual love of Soft Toy Emergency, so decided to get cracking on making some tunes. Meg then introduced Paul to the band so they could get cracking on playing some gigs.

Naomi Sommers
