Downset

Founded in Los Angeles in the late 80's as part of the thriving scene, downset has evolved into an icon of sorts. As the original blenders of , , , , , and socially aware lyrics, they drew influences from Black Flag to Black Sabbath, Public Enemy to Bob Marley. Becoming a huge draw, the industry took notice and they caught the attention of Mercury/PolyGram Records and released their self titled debut in 1994.

Sheila Escovedo is the daughter of percussionist Pete Escovedo, with whom she frequently performs. Sheila E's uncle is Alejandro Escovedo, formerly with Delphine Neid's first-wave punk rock group The Nuns, Rank and File and The True Believers, followed by a solo career. The late Tito Puente was Escovedo's godfather. She is also niece to Javier Escovedo, founder of seminal San Diego punk act, The Zeros. Another uncle, Mario Escovedo, fronted long-running indie rockers, The Dragons. Escovedo is of Mexican, African American, and Creole heritage. Coke Escovedo was also her uncle.

Lil Bow Wow, now known as Bow Wow, was born in Columbus, Ohio to Teresa and Junie Moss. His father left the family, though Bow Wow says they are still keeping in contact. Bow Wow's mother worked three jobs. It has been said he resembles his father and his father is of creole descent, and his mother re-married to Rodney Caldwell; Bow Wow grew up with his step-father and has two step-siblings, Erica and Jasarah. When he was five, he started his career in rap using the moniker "Kid Gangsta".

Walter Trout Band

Walter Trout (born 1951 in Ocean City, New Jersey) is a blues guitarist and front man of Walter Trout and the Radicals. Trout's career began on the Jersey coast scene of the late 60's and early 70's that jump started the career of artists like Bruce Springsteen. He then decided to relocate to Los Angeles where he became a sideman for such artists as Percy Mayfield and Deacon Jones. He also worked in the bands of John Lee Hooker and Joe Tex.
