Calvin Party

Calvin Party (named after the 16th Century theologian) were formally known as Levellers Five but renamed themselves after another band, The Levellers, found some fame.
The band, who originate from Darwen, Lancashire, England, were long time favourites of John Peel for whom they recorded a total of eight sessions, three as Levellers Five between May 1990 and May 1992 and five as Calvin Party between September 1994 and September 2004. The last session was broadcast just a month before John Peel's death.

Experimental Pop Band

Formed in Bristol in 1996, the Experimental Pop Band originated as a studio band who included Davey Woodward (vocals) Chris Galvin (bass) and Corin Dingley (drums and keys). the band released a series of singles that gained critical acclaim from national music press including single of the week with the track 'boutique in my backyard' later covered by Sophie Ellis Baxter's theaudience. First ablum was a compilation of 4 eps named 'Woof' released on the Swarf Finger label. Corin left the band to form Alpha with Keith Bailey (drums) and Joe Rooney (keyboards) joining in mid 1996.

Lone Ranger

Borrowing his stage name from the popular TV Western hero of the same name, the Lone Ranger was one of Jamaica's most influential early dancehall DJs. He helped pioneer a newly rhythmic, on-the-beat rhyming style that led DJ toasting into the modern age, and punctuated his lyrics with bizarre exclamations and sound effects ("bim" and "ribbit" were his favorites) that made him perhaps the most imaginative stylist of his time.

1.Artery were one of the most important and influential bands in the UK's post-punk scene, though they didn't sell many records and are often overlooked in pop histories. They were based in Sheffield UK, and between 1978 and 1985 recorded three studio albums, one live album, and a few singles. Their gigs were riotous. They defined the post-industrial outlook that Human League and Cabaret Voltaire adopted. They were the reason Jarvis Cocker decided to become a pop star.

The Brilliant Corners

At long last a band is being recognised for the influence it has had without the commercial acclaim that some of their songs deserved.
This seminal Bristol band consisted of a nucleus of Chris Galvin (bass) and David Woodward (vocals and guitars) with Bob Morris (drums) plus various others during their ten years of existence.
Through various styles they created a unique Bristol slant on the 80's which was never deemed glamorous by the press or music gliterrati in general. Some may say that the Bristol scene was insular but it was really about being yourself and getting on with things.

The June Brides were an English pop music group, formed in London in 1983, by Phil Wilson and Simon Beesley of International Rescue. Influenced by Postcard-label bands such as Josef K and punk-era bands such as The Desperate Bicycles and The Television Personalities, their mix of guitar pop with viola and trumpet formed a blueprint for many of the c86 bands that would follow. Frank Chickens

Frank Chickens were an Anglo-Japanese group based in London, performing their quirky brand of pop from 1982 to 2001. The founder members were Kazuko Hohki and Kazumi Taguchi. Taguchi was later replaced by Atsuko Kamura and then Chika Nakagawa and others in the 1990s. Their best known song was We Are Ninja (Not Geisha), which they continued to perform at every gig. According to Discogs, their last release was a remix 12" of the song, We Are Ninja (2000).

The Cravats

The Cravats were thrown together in 1977, the day after The Shend & Robin Dallaway had seen The Stranglers in Birmingham. Once back home in Redditch, tooled up with only a pair of bongo's and acoustic guitar, the boys got drunk and started work on The Cravats. After recruiting Martin Seys to play guitar, and Ethos Yapp to oblige on the drums the band took their set of songs into the studio to record a demo tape.
