Beverley Craven is a British singer, born 28 June 1963 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She had her greatest success in the early 1990s, and is best known for the hit "Promise Me" which hit Number 3 in the UK singles chart in 1991. Craven achieved another five entries in the same chart over the next two years. After meeting backstage at a Tears for Fears concert, Craven is married to singer/songwriter Colin Campsie, and the couple have three daughters.

She is a United Nations Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Born Denise Eileen Garrett in Memphis, Tennessee, she grew up in Flint, Michigan. Her father, Matthew Garrett, was a jazz trumpeter and teacher at Manassas High School, and through his playing, Denise was exposed to jazz early on.

Her debut album in 1975, Inseparable, won her immediate praise, with the smash single This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) (#1 R&B, #6 Pop) winning her a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female, a category that had been monopolized by Aretha Franklin. She also was named the Grammys' Best New Artist of 1975. She attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, MA.
