Flying Pickets

The Flying Pickets is a British a cappella vocal group, that had a surprise number one hit in 1983 in the UK singles chart, with their cover of Yazoo's track Only You. The name 'Flying Pickets' refers to mobile strikers who travel in order to join a picket. The group of six was founded by Brian Hibbard in 1982 by a group of actors , the "7:84 Theatre group", a fringe theatre group who had sung a capella in their production of One Big Blow, based on the 1984 UK miners' strike.

Petula Clark

Petula Clark, CBE (born November 15, 1932), is an English singer, actress and composer, best known for her upbeat popular international hits of the 1960s. With nearly 70 million recordings sold worldwide, she is the most successful English solo female recording artist to date. Perhaps best known for her massive hit 'Downtown' and whilst being English, Petula's work was heavily French-influenced.In the 1950s, she later was to branch out to become a major success in much of Europe. That success was followed by success in Scandinavia and also in Canada and Australia.

Brian Hyland

Brian was born November 12, 1943, in Brooklyn/Queens, New York City, where his first musical experience ranged from church choir at nine, to clarinet and guitar, to his first local harmony group, the Delfis. In 1959, they cut a demo record and made the rounds of New York City record labels. Finally, with much persistence, after many closed doors, Brian was signed as a solo artist to a management contract, where he cut demos for band leader Sammy Kaye's publishing company. Kapp Records heard a demo and signed Brian at age 16.

The Shorts

The Shorts are a hardcore punk band from Southampton, UK. They were formed by Mike Fox (guitar / vocals) and Tony Suspect (drums / vocals) in 2009. A demo was recorded with Kevin Borrett (ex Pilger) playing bass.They then recruited Neil Clelland (ex Intent / Pilger) to play guitar and the "Skinned Alive" EP was recorded in 2011. Alan Marshall (ex Whole In The Head / Chinapple Punx) joined. Influences: Minor Threat, Limp Wrist, The Stupids, 7 Seconds. The Shorts was a pop group from the Netherlands consisting of Hans Van Vondelen (vocals), Erik De Wildt (keyboard), Hans Stokkermans (bass guitar) and Peter Wezenbeek (drums).
The group was formed in 1976, and scored a 1983 international hit with "Comment ça va" - a song about a boy who meets a french girl but they cant understand each other.
