Readymades

There are several artists that go by the name of Readymades: 1 - A Punk / Power-Pop band formed in 1977 in San Francisco. 2 - A Post-Punk band from Hannover, Germany. 3 - An Indie/Lounge band from Liverpool, UK. Forming in 2005 with various different band members along the way, Readymades originate from both Liverpool & Birmingham. Three members of the band also perform in Terra Alpha. They are signed to indie label 'Fortune & Glory' and are currently recording an album, due for release at the end of 2010.

The Gateway District

The Gateway District is a punk band from Minneapolis. Their members play or have played in a bunch of other bands (The Soviettes, Rivethead, Banner Pilot, The Self Polluters, Supermanure, The Salteens), so they are a "super" group in the same sense that McDonalds Ketchup is "fancy". The Gateway District are Maren (Vocals/Guitar), Carrie (Vocals/Bass), Nate (Guitar), and Brad (Drums). They have a Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/thegatewaydistrict

Red Alert

1) Oi! band formed in Sunderland around May of 1979. The original line up was: Steve "Cast Iron" Smith (vocals), Tony Van Frater (Guitar), Gaz Stuart (bass) and Dona (drums). Self released a four track EP entitled "Third And Final," which had been their demo, in an edition of 250 copies. This EP was re-released in the mid 90s as "Border Guards" on Combat Rock.
Then recorded two tracks for the "Carry On Oi!" album. Only one, "SPG," would actually appear on the compilation though.

Glen Matlock & the Philistines

Glen Matlock is one of the most respected, if underrated British musicians. In a career that has spanned over thirty years, Glen has made indelible contributions to music as the original bass player with The Sex Pistols, formed the infamous Rich Kids, worked with a variety of artists ranging from Iggy Pop, fellow original School of '76 Brit Punk Rockers The Damned, through to neo-rockabilly singer Robert Gordon, whilst pursuing his own musically distinctive direction where melodic and inventive rock music thrives.

Plain Jane

1. Plain Jane were a glam metal band that Jani Lane and Steven Sweet were members of before they joined Warrant. Plain Jane recorded several demos, including a cover of "Time Warp" (from The Rocky Horror Picture Show), "Dance On The Flames", "California Stars", and pre-Warrant versions of "Heaven" and "Sad Theresa". 2. An obscure riot grrrl band from Olympia, WA. Nomy Lamm fronted it in hir teens. The other members were also teenagers. Probably active in the early 90s. They released a four-song demo and most likely nothing else.

Flying Pickets

The Flying Pickets is a British a cappella vocal group, that had a surprise number one hit in 1983 in the UK singles chart, with their cover of Yazoo's track Only You. The name 'Flying Pickets' refers to mobile strikers who travel in order to join a picket. The group of six was founded by Brian Hibbard in 1982 by a group of actors , the "7:84 Theatre group", a fringe theatre group who had sung a capella in their production of One Big Blow, based on the 1984 UK miners' strike.

Straw Dogs

There are multiple artists with this name 1. Straw Dogs unleashed a fury of hardcore-laden metal-tinged garage-band kick-ass rock and roll. Between 1986 and 1991 they released two 12"s on Restless/Enigma named, Straw Dogs and Under the Hammer consecutively and one 12" with a CD version on Lone Wolf entitled Your Own Worst Nightmare. Laughably, not one of the downloadable albums or tracks listed and very few of the non-downloadable tracks listed on last.fm are by the Boston-based Straw Dogs.
