The Scissors

“I just wanted to start a band and play for fun,” explains singer Darren Vorel regarding beginning The Scissors back in 2002. After bouncing around various bands throughout their teens, Vorel and guitarist Steve Mocarski were eager to introduce something of their own. They didn’t hesitate to contact Matt Allison to crank out a seven song EP (The Riv Rat Rob EP) at Atlas Studios in Chicago before frequenting stages like The Fireside Bowl to get it into people’s hands. In 2004, they headed back to Atlas with new drummer David Schneider to record the first full-length.

Louis Lingg and the Bombs

Louis Lingg and the Bombs are goddamn punk-rock-garage-pop-anarcho saviours of the 2 and half minute pop song. They come from Paris where they regularly blow up little bars with explosions of snot and beer fuelled punk rock energy! The group is named after Louis Lingg, the famous Chicago anarchist who committed suicide on death row in 1887. Some of their songs are ultra-political anarchist punk rock and some of their songs are like children’s nursery rhymes. ALL of their song’s are full of interesting pop hooks and melodies and they are sung with energy and commitment.

The Fleshtones

Often tagged as garage-rock revivalists, the Fleshtones mix the fuzz-guitar and Farfisa organ sounds of that genre with rockabilly, '50s and '60s R&B, and surf into a potent retro stew the group likes to call "Super Rock." The group formed in 1976 in Queens with vocalist/keyboardist Peter Zaremba, guitarist Keith Streng, bassist Jan Marek Pukulski, and drummer Bill Milhizer and aimed to return rock and roll to the simplicity and unself-consciousness of the '50s and early-'60s. (The group was often joined on-stage and in the studio by sax player Gordon Spaeth, who passed on in 2005.
