Ben Marwood

Born in the same hospital where cult TV comedy Green Wing was to be shot a mere few decades later, lyrical songsmith Ben Marwood mixes pop songwriting with a generous portion of angsty anti-folk. Signed to one of the UK’s smallest but proudest record labels, the ever-DIY Broken Tail Records, he’s gigged alongside Frank Turner, Frightened Rabbit, Pete and the Pirates, SixNationState, Glasvegas, Jetplane Landing and Chris T-T, and he’s loved every second of it.

Further Notes Regarding Peel It
Peel another 40-hour-workweek off the stack gyrating in your hands. Strip it from the wad and make it drizzle on the sign twirler at the live-nude intersection - “We Buy Gold, We Sell Gold” the sign reads.

Peel the gold leaf off the holy headpiece, off the Temple Mount, off the Dome Rock. Lotto jackpots get shared.

Peel the radial Goodyear’s off pop’s Ford Exploder glazing doughnuts into every Texas lawn, sister. Peel the sod away, the drought sucks like a dry hump with two backs, brother.

Over the course of ten years and a dozen records, Pelt transformed slowly from an electric group, heavily influenced by Sonic Youth, the Dead C and Theater of Eternal Music-style minimalism to an acoustic group showing the strong influence of John Fahey.
