“HIGHLY MELODIC AS WELL AS BEING DEEPLY, DEEPLY RAUCOUS” … “A BLISTERING COLLECTION OF ANTI-ESTABLISHEMNT POLEMIC” (hot press) In summery:
Who?
Paranoid Visions are Ireland’s longest serving punk band.
Viarosa
Viarosa's second full length release "Send for the Sea" is an eleven song 'noir opera' that more deeply reveals the mystical vision of UK vocalist-songwriter Richard Neuberg and his bandmate-companions over the past six years. They are experts in roiling guitars, bittersweet viola & screaming lap steel, among the usual rock instrumentation. Viarosa's ability to express themselves in unique ways both lovely & grotesque earned them the fandom of REM, which asked them to open for the mega-band in Dublin at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.
Bert Jansch
Herbert Jansch (b. 3rd November 1943), commonly known as Bert Jansch, is a Scottish folk musician and founding member of the band Pentangle. He was born in Glasgow and, particularly in his early career, was sometimes characterised as a British Bob Dylan. This, however, was misleading, in that Jansch's best work has always been fundamentally instrument-driven unlike Dylan's, which is primarily lyric-based.
Lo'Jo
With origins in France’s popular art form of street performance over 18 years ago, this Angers-based sextet has developed a very unified sound, reflecting their communal culture. Their performances incorporate the disparate influences of Tuaregs, talking drums, chanson, gypsy fiddle, and Caribbean groove. Theirs is truly traditional music in a modern context. Instruments include piano, harmonium, soprano sax, bass, kora(2,) drum set, violin, accordion, and djembe. They frequently tour with the Tuareg group from Mali, Tinariwen.
Luke Brennan
...Rock from the ground, folk from town & country and pop from the sky... Luke Brennan is a compelling young singer-songwriter based in Melbourne. His work is inspired by an eclectic and eccentric interest in original music. As an artist his compass is set somewhere between the suburban streets of childhood where sullen and monotonous lives are romanticised by the escapist, and the sticky hardwood dancefloors of bandrooms where everyone dances with anyone in celebration of the traditions of soul, folk and rock n roll.
Declan O'Rourke
Declan O'Rourke is a gold record singer/songwriter from Ballyfermot Dublin, Ireland. At the age of 13, when living in Australia with his family, O'Rourke was given his first guitar by a priest in Kyabram who recognised his potential and love for music; Hence the title of his debut album "Since Kyabram", which was released in October 2004. The album's launch took place over three sold-out nights in Whelan’s of Wexford St, Dublin and was broadcast live on national radio. It entered the official Irish album charts at Number 5 and was the only new Irish entry in the Top 75 album chart that week.
