Guapo

ANCIENT HISTORY: Three years have passed since “Black Oni” (Ipecac Records). Four years since “Five Suns”(Cuneiform Records). The new album by Guapo is finally here and thus concludes the recondite triptych they set out to accomplish. Flux is not uncommon here, every record taking on new musical hues and offering disparate ideas and perspectives. However an upheaval in the line-up, which of recent years has been anchored by the trio of Daniel O’Sullivan, Matthew Thompson and David Smith, triggered a change in course when Thompson left the band just prior to the release of Black Oni in 2005.

Researches begun years ago, diggin’ dusty vinyl crates for obscure samples. The discovery of Italian '60s and '70s soundtracks was a crucial point; from that moment on nothing sounded as good and interesting as electrifying tracks from exploitation movies.

Gary Le Strange

Gary Le Strange is the alter ego of Waen Shepherd (b. England 1971), a British actor and comedian. Waen is a versatile character comedian, native of Yorkshire, inhabitant of London. Following his days as a stand-up poet and fringe actor ("Supple-limbed… expressive … effortless" What's On), Waen started out performing bizarre experimental monologues at the early Club Zarathustra, touring with spoof techno band and Edinburgh sell-out The Pod ("The future of techno comedy" Guardian; "The musical comedy event of the festival" NME)...

Twelves Trio

Riaan Vosloo, Mark Hanslip & Tim Giles are Twelves Trio. They have recently been joined by Rob Uptergraff on guitar, thus rendering their name a tautology. They are therefore thinking of changing their name to just "The Twelves" for the purpose of clarity - any thoughts on this important matter will be gratefully received. An new acoustic album is to be recorded in May, which is sure to be to a great success. An electronic album is also in the works, more details soon.

Bifurcate

Years ago, January 2010, Mark Smith, former vocalist of post/progressive metal band Pseudo-Messiah and brief vocalist of heavy metal band Raid, formally announced a new project tentatively named Space Bowl. Featuring newcomer drummer Ben Jones and guitar virtuoso Rory Duncan (ex Raid and Pseudo-Messiah - Now guitarist of Circus), Space Bowl was originally planned to be a musical experiment, combining space rock and extreme metal to create something truly unique. In February, it was also decided that newcomer Owen Llewellyn would play rhythm guitar for the group
