Trip

Born in a Wimbledon Hospital in 1984 weighing a healthy 7 1⁄2 pounds, Alex Child aka Trip grew up in Hammersmith, West London. After the blur of college and a set of A levels that spelt DUDE, Trip found himself making and performing music across the capital at mates studios, on pirate radio stations and at open mic nights as a live vocalist and MC. After winning numerous Jump-off 'one bout MC battles' and hosting the DMC world championships, a chance meeting with the scratch perverts led to another chance meeting with Killa Kela.

There are elements of each group's trademark sound within the album but true to each group's progressive and experimental aspects, “Altar” moves into a completely new dimension. Mountains

"Infinite sheets of grainy sound build and renew themselves to immensely pleasing effect." - The Wire. Acoustic instrumentation and field recordings gradually blend with subtle electronics. A listening experience that ranges from quiet crackling to dense layers of harmonic texture. Mountains is an ongoing collaboration between Apestaartje cofounders Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp. Having worked in parallel and often overlapping contexts within their respective solo projects (Aero & Anderegg), 'Mountains' was initially created as an outlet for live performance.

Softwar

I've never tried to mask my unbridled desire for the Jewelled Antler Collective - these San Francisco-based forest dwellers have managed to do something quite magical in them there woods, and make psychedelic folk music (free folk, new weird America, whatever) sound simply irresistible. I don't know what it is really, maybe it's the guiding hand of Thuja-member and founder of the whole thing Loren Chasse, who appears here as the spiritual frontman of Softwar.
