Rachid Taha

Rachid Taha (Arabic: رشيد طه) (born 1958) is a French-Algerian musician. His music is influenced by many different styles such as rock, techno, and raï. Taha was born in Oran, Algeria. His father was a factory worker. Taha's family immigrated to France in 1968. While working in a heating appliance factory in the late 1970s, Taha founded Les Refoulés ("The Rejects"), a nightclub where he would spin mashups of Arabic pop classics over Led Zeppelin, Bo Diddley, and Kraftwerk backbeats.

Desaparecidos

Desaparecidos was a short-lived American quintet formed in 2001 in Omaha, Nebraska, fronted by Conor Oberst (vocals, guitar) and featuring Denver Dalley, now of Statistics (guitar), Landon Hedges, now of Little Brazil (bass), Ian McElroy (keyboards), and Matt Baum (drums). This project however was restarted in 2010. Oberst may be better known for his confessional songwriting and storytelling as the lead singer of the popular indie folk band Bright Eyes, but Desaparecidos has a very different flavor.

Faye

An artist whose sound is described as understated, evocative, catchy and commanding, Best Fit Recordings are extremely proud to announce the signing of Swedish siren FAYE to their family of artists, a songstress whose perfect blend of electronica and pop leaves an indelible impression upon all who listen in. The story behind Swedish vocalist Faye Hamlin is by no means a usual one. How many singers can say that they spent their adolescence touring the world with the likes of Destiny’s Child and Aaron Carter as one quarter of hugely successful...

Timeshares

Timeshares is a punk rock band with roots tracing back to cold but peaceful upstate, New York. Just prior to their official formation in 2009, the burning desire for overpriced rent, constant traffic and personal debt found the members in loud and polluted downstate, New York. Since then, this hopelessly well-meaning group of four has been circling the country in a rusty '89 Chevy van, staying up all night with the locals and occasionaly writing songs. Discography: 2009 Demo CD
2010 Split 7" w/ Captain, We're Sinking (Kiss Of Death Records)

Oi Polloi

Oi Polloi's first studio recording was a demo entitled Destroi the System, which is believed to have been released in 1984 or 1985. After the now defunct music weekly Sounds gave their previous home-recorded demo a favourable review, demand increased for gigs further afield. A second studio demo, Green Anarchoi followed before the release of the first vinyl offering, Resist the Atomic Menace. The line-up of the group has starred an impressive fifty members since their formation, making up the countless incarnations of the band. The band is currently based in Scotland.

Blanks

There have probably been dozens of punk bands called The Blanks or simply Blanks One of those bands put out the 7" single described at hyped2death.com: "BLANKS -Break Down (Void 560) Peterborough '79
The Blanks were briefly notorious for "Northern Ripper," based on the exploits of Peter Sutcliffe, the "Yorkshire Ripper" (although the supposed recording of his voice that leads off the song turned out to be a hoax). Meanwhile, "Breakdown" -one of the flipsides- is first-rate DIYpunk scrubbing.
