The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips are an American alternative rock band, formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States in 1983. Currently the band consists of founding members Wayne Coyne (vocals, guitar, theremin, keyboards) and Michael Ivins (bass, keyboards), longtime member Steven Drozd (keyboards, guitar, drums, synths, vocals) and Kliph Scurlock (drums at live shows) Although grounded in an indie rock/alternative approach to rock music, The Flaming Lips are known for their lush, multi-layered arrangements, spacey lyrics and bizarre song titles.

Pete Yorn

Pete Yorn (b. July 27, 1974) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. Yorn started as a drummer who also played guitar. In 1990, he was drumming for his band in a high school talent contest when someone suggested he sing the Replacements song "Talent Show." That went over so well, a competing band asked him to sing Neil Young’s "Rockin' in the Free World" with them. He was first recognized when the Farrelly brothers picked "Strange Condition" for their film Me, Myself & Irene.

Malcolm Middleton

Malcolm Middleton is a singer/songwriter, best known for being one half of Scottish band Arab Strap. In 2002, while in between Arab Strap albums, both he and bandmate Aidan Moffat pursued different solo projects, Moffat's being the ambient Lucky Pierre. Malcolm, writing lyrics and singing for the first time, recorded the cathartic 5:14 Fluoxytine Seagull Alcohol John Nicotine for Chemikal Underground.

Blackmore's Night

Blackmore's Night is an English Renaissance-inspired medieval folk rock band led by UK guitarist Ritchie Blackmore (electric and acoustic guitars) and Candice Night (lyricist and lead vocals). The origins of the band lie in 1990 when Candice was working at a local New York rock music radio station, and as part of her work first encountered Ritchie (now ex-Deep Purple/Rainbow guitarist), then with Deep Purple, at a soccer game he was playing in. The two became romantically entwined and discovered that they shared a passionate interest in the Renaissance.

Featuring former Botch members, Dave Verellen and Brian Cook (also of These Arms Are Snakes) as well as Harkonen frontman Ben Verellen and bassist Mike Cooper, one might be expecting a font for sonic aggression from such post-hardcore luminaries. But to the contrary, Roy's neo-classic American rock/pop songwriting style is truly more timeless than the changing flavors of the underground. Broken Spindles

Broken Spindles is the brainchild of Joel Petersen of Omaha, Nebraska. He is in other Saddle Creek bands, playing bass guitar in The Faint and Beep Beep. The music is mostly instrumental with minimal vocals which Petersen sings. It originally started in 2001 as the soundtrack for a friend's film. It developed into a solo project with the first release in 2002 on Tiger Style Records. In between touring with The Faint and Beep Beep, Petersen found time to write music for Broken Spindles. The song, "Song No Song," from fulfilled/complete was used in a car commercial for Lexus

With a reputation as No-Fi home studio recording wizards, they have been recording and releasing their unique brand of experimental pop music since 1990...on their own TARQUIN RECORDS label.
