As Amon (1987-1989) Deicide was formed in Tampa, Florida July 21, 1987, after guitarist Brian Hoffman called Glen Benton, replying to an advertisement the latter had placed in a local music magazine. They are influenced by bands such as Destruction, Sodom, Venom, Bathory, Possessed, Death and Slayer.

We're a heavy math-metal goliath with an indie pop band trapped inside, crying. Like if Tool sexed with Mogwai, and King Crimson stirred the porridge. Sounds ghastly, but we make a good collection of noises arranged in various ways. We've all got some pretty strong musical ties to the 90's, so bands like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden shaped us all in some way.

She was brought up and lived on the same street as the Jackson family and knew Michael Jackson's mother and uncle. Early in her career, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, she enjoyed major success in the European house music scene, and performed as a member of Soul II Soul. However she is probably best known as the singer of the cover version of the song "Young Hearts Run Free", in the 1996 Baz Luhrmann film, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet.
