Marti Pellow (born March 23, 1965 in Clydebank, near Glasgow, Scotland) is the lead singer of the Scottish pop group Wet Wet Wet. He enjoyed success with the group throughout the late 1980s and 1990s. However, in 1997 drummer Tommy Cummingham left the band and its success waned immediately. Pellow was by this time suffering from addiction to heroin. He famously quoted, on finally beating the drug, "It was textbook. I couldn't function without it. But there's no romantic side to heroin - it's no good."

Perth born singer-songwriter, and indie-blues chanteuse Grace Woodroofe, came to public awareness at age 16 when she entered two demo recordings into the influential Australian radio station Triple J’s Unearthed competition. These songs found their way to Los Angeles artist collective, The Masses who immediately sponsored Grace to come to the United States to record and develop her sound. The Grates are a two-piece band from Brisbane, Australia. Patience Hodgson (vocals), John Patterson (guitar) and Alana Skyring (drums) formed The Grates in 2002. The Grates have been lauded for their catchy songs and enthusiastic and energetic live show (Patience spends much of the show bouncing around, even while singing). They are frequently described as fun: "We just wanna have fun and hope other people do too." (Patience). Their sound has been compared to the Ramones, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Be Your Own Pet.
