Tango In The Attic

There are two bands with the name "Tango in the Attic: 1) An American country band featuring members Eileen, Jim, Brian and Gosamer. 2) An indie band from Scotland. Tango In The Attic formed in Glenrothes, Fife, in late 2007. Each of the five members brings a different influence to the band and together they add a new and colourful sound to the growing Fife music scene. Taking heed from such bands as The Strokes and Vampire Weekend, their sound can be described as a Scottish version of East Coast Garage.

Patsy Reid

Patsy Reid is from Knapp in Perthshire and despite her young age, she has a great amount of experience in performing and teaching both traditional and classical music. She remains the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship and released her debut solo album “With Complements” in 2002. At 17, Patsy was a finalist in the original BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award and is now a member of the band Breabach who won a Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections 2005.

Battlefield Band

For 30 years Battlefield Band has been a training ground for some of the greatest Scottish musicians. The band's current brand of music was developed when Brian McNeill and Alan Reid were joined by Jenny Clark (vocals, guitar, cittern, dulcimer) and Duncan MacGillivray (pipes and whistle). Stand Easy, the album they recorded in 1979 still stands up as one of the band's finest. The next line-up included Dougie Pincock (bagpipes) and Jim and Sylvia Barnes, Alan Reid (vocals and electric keyboards) and Brian MacNeill (fiddle).

Hold the Suspect

Drawing influence from the modern scottish rock scene Hold the Suspect have found their niche, writing songs with catchy hooks, crushing riffs, complex instrumentals and playing them to crowds in Edinburgh, West Lothian and Glasgow. 2010 is set to be a great year for the band, who have recently recorded their new EP with producer Mark Morrow.

Rarely Seen Above Ground

Rarely Seen Above Ground is Jeremy Hickey, a one-man band from Kilkenny. During live shows, Jeremy plays the drums and sings, while videos of him playing the other instruments featured on the track are displayed on a screen behind him.

1) Fiend is a Melodic Death Metal band formed in Moscow, Russia, in December of 2007, which also touches other metal genres such as Gothic. Fiend are inevitably one of their own kind in Russia.

Alasdair Fraser

Alasdair Fraser is a Scottish fiddler who is based in California and runs his own record label, Culburnie Records. He also founded the Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddle School, which has been attended by many of today's prominent young fiddlers, including Hanneke Cassel, Laura Risk, Athena Tergis, Brittany Haas, and Lissa Schneckenburger. He has often collaborated with pianist Paul Machlis and Scottish guitarist Tom McManus, among others.
