Kali

There seems to be at least seven musicians/groups/sounds going by the name of Kali: 1. Fast thrashcore band from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. They've started playing shows around Alberta and have taken the scene by the throat, because they're so good (and usually good bands don't come from Red Deer). http://www.myspace.com/kalialberta 2. Martinican reggae/folk musician Kali (Jean-Marc Monnerville) was born in Fort-de-France in 1959.

Timmy

1. Timmy is an young, very inovative and talented musician from Bratislava, Slovakia. He plays the lead guitar in a symphonic death metal (the description of the genre is only approx.) band called Erratum and does their samples and backing vocals. He made some music pieces also on his own, mostly orchestra like (his huge influences for this genre are Hans Zimmer and Clint Mansell), made soundtracks to certain video games and tried to music some of the poems of Edgar Allan Poe. Remember Shakti

Remember Shakti is the second incarnation of guitarist John McLaughlin's group which plays a fusion of indian music and jazz. The original Shakti was most active between 1975 and 1978; Remember Shakti was formed in 2000 and has played on and off since then. The core of Remember Shakti is guitarist John McLaughlin and master tabla player and percussionist Zakir Hussain, both members of the original Shakti. On the first recording from 2000, T.H. Vinayakram (also a member of the original Shakti) plays ghatam and Indian drum, and Hariprasad Chaurasia plays bansuri flute.

Buika

Buika (b.1972) is a Spanish singer. Her music mixes flamenco with soul, jazz ,and funk. Born Concha Buika in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, her family came from Equatorial Guinea; she grew up among gypsy people. Ever since she was a child her musical talent was evident, but it was after a visit to London to study drama when, after being invited to a Pat Metheny concert that her life changed. From that moment she began her musical career. During the 1990s she took part in different productions, such as Ombra by La Fura Dels Baus and the soundtrack for the Spanish film Km.

Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture

Since 2003, Save the Rhino has held an annual Douglas Adams Memorial Lecture around the time of his birthday to raise money for rhino conservation projects. The first three lectures were held in conjunction with the Gorilla Organisation (formally the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund), of whom Douglas was also a founder patron. Since 2006 the lectures have been held in conjunction with the Environmental Investigation Agency, a charity that Douglas was also heavily involved with.

Rachid Taha

Rachid Taha (Arabic: رشيد طه) (born 1958) is a French-Algerian musician. His music is influenced by many different styles such as rock, techno, and raï. Taha was born in Oran, Algeria. His father was a factory worker. Taha's family immigrated to France in 1968. While working in a heating appliance factory in the late 1970s, Taha founded Les Refoulés ("The Rejects"), a nightclub where he would spin mashups of Arabic pop classics over Led Zeppelin, Bo Diddley, and Kraftwerk backbeats.
