Psychedelic Rock

Martin Gordon

Martin Gordon began his career in the Seventies with the Californian pop twins Sparks, who found some fleeting fame with UK hits This Town and Amateur Hour. He moved swiftly on and formed Jet (described by All Music Guide as the first supergroup of glam) and then Radio Stars, who were in fact Jet wearing different clothes. Radio Stars also achieved a modicum of success with Nervous Wreck, and then Gordon departed to Paris to work as house producer for Barclay Records, and to play bass for the Rolling Stones on studio dates.

Artist Type:

Steve Hillage

Hillage started out as a prog rocker, always leaning towards the more whimsical/mystical side of things in his work with Gong (1973-1975). On going solo, he continued in a similar vein, fusing melodic elements with ambient soundscapes on albums such as "Green", "L", "Fish Rising" and most notably "Rainbow Dome Musick". One of the first to popularise electronic ambient sounds, his work was rediscovered by later electronic dance acts, giving Hillage a new lease of life as a performer/DJ in the 1990s following a successful stint as producer.

Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats

Formed in the old wastelands of witchery and paranoia, Cambridgeshire band Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats deliver the new sound of 60s terror. This popular beat combo crawled from its secluded hideout in 2009 to record their debut album, 'Vol. 1' for Killer Candy Records. With a limited release in 2010, the album was warmly received with the track 'Witches Garden' appearing on a Classic Rock Magazine cover CD. The band also drew the attention of Leif Edling from legendary doom band Candlemass, who would later recommend them to Lee Dorrian at Rise Above.
