Part-Time Heroes
Kabuki
Kabuki is the name of more than one artist: 1) A veteran DJ of Germany's drum & bass scene and high-profile producer. Brought up as a classical guitarist, studying composition and abandoning everything for the thrill of electronic music. Co-founder of the label Precision Breakbeat Research in Frankfurt. Except for music ranging from Steve Reich to John Barry, Kabuki's heart belongs to the Asian cinema and martial arts. No wonder he chose Japan's flamboyant Kabuki theatre style as DJ alias.
Take
(For the Korean boy band, see 테이크.) There is more than one artist under this name: 1. Based in Los Angeles, Take (Sweatson Klank) is a composer who continues to push the boundaries of instrumental hip-hop music into new directions. After multiple successful EP's under his belt, Take finally unleashed his debut full length player in 2007, Earthtones and Concrete. This music is nothing short of an epic journey with continuously evolving collages that lead the listener down a dust covered road of bit-crushed melodies and molested jazz samples.
Part Time Heroes
The Part Time Heroes are two undisclosed young musicians currently residing in the leafy suburbs of Southampton. Although their names are not known to the masses, their music soon will be, as this part-time shop assistant and part-time sandwich deliveryman, plan to convert their part-time music careers into full-time employment. Both heroes have a deep history in a variety of genres, sharing influences from Miles Davis to John Martyn to The Clash, and both now share the same landlord.
Reel People
When ambitious young record store manager Oli Lazarus initiated his Reel People project back in 2000 he could only have dreamt of where those first tentative steps would lead him. Having immersed himself in the soulful house sounds of specialist record store Flying for the previous three years, Oli Lazurus had begun to feel that the musical education he had gained in-store was complete and that his tenure atthe shop was drawing to a natural end.

www.jaywalkers.co.uk/ Jaywalkers are Michael Giverin and Jay Bradberry. They play an addictive mix of equal parts folk and bluegrass. Originating from the Bluegrass hotbed of Helsby, just outside of Chester they began playing together at the weekly jam sessions at the local ex-Servicemen's club.
In 2008 they formed a duo and subsequently reached the finals of the 2009 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.
The Claudia Quintet
The Claudia Quintet is proof positive that the pessimists were wrong: jazz is not dead, despite being embalmed by major labels and confined by the narrow-minded to dead-ends. The stunningly original and lyrical works of this NY based ensemble, led by composer/drummer John Hollenbeck, reveal breathtaking new vistas for jazz beyond genre walls. In compositions that meld mental challenge with charm, captivating audiences with austere beauty or propulsive grooves, jazz breaks through its rigid shell, recombines with a myriad of other musics, and is reborn in a transcendent new form.
