The Soul Hustlers

The Soul Hustlers are a Helsinki-based duo that blend original Delta-based grooves and aggressive Hip Hop beats. DJ Hereill (FIN) lays down the thick rhythmic backbone via turntables and sampler, as the soulful voice of Alaska Kalanen (USA) complements the raw, earthy sounds beaten out of his steel slide guitar. That's the technical side. The experience is something entirely original, refreshingly energetic and often political, evoking musical references from Pete Rock & CL Smooth to the songs of cotton field laborers from the early 1900's - and everything in between.
