1) DEVolution are a garage/dub duo consisting of Pete Devereux (Ex-Artful Dodger) and former Size Records artist Tom Devos. The DEVolution duo are writing, producing and playing music which can generally be described as in the dubstep genre, but which they call "Embrace the Bass". Michael Gray is a British DJ and house music producer who is signed to independent dance record label Eye Industries. He is also one half of the popular dance music production/remixing duo Full Intention. His first big hit was a house tune in the mutant disco style, called The Weekend.
The record, which similar to Junior Jack's Room 5 owed a debt to Oliver Cheatham, became a Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom when licenced through UMTV and also notched up over 20,000 plays on the radio.
This New Jersey native was initially inspired by England's take on the sound of Detroit, but eventually tracked techno back to its Motor City innovators. When he began listening to music, however, it was the sound of early-'80s synth heroes like Devo, Severed Heads and New Order alongside early hiphop, jazz and 60's Hindi film soundtracks. Geist released his first 12" (via Dan Curtin's innovative Metamorphic label) while studying at Oberlin College in 1994.
