Choking Victim was an American punk band from 1992 to 1999, formed in New York City. The band became notable around "C-squat," in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where they squatted and continue to inhabit and organize shows for their music, which blended ska punk with black metal, and anarchist lyrics. They also became known for Satanic imagery and numerous references to the vagrant lifestyle, such as crack-smoking, shoplifting, and squatting. They also, like many other bands in the punk scene, have violent anti-police sentiments in their songs.
(1) Pioneers of US black metal, Masochist operated between 1992 and 1995 and released four demos and one EP of unforgiving, brutal black metal noise. Insect Warfare was a grindcore band from Houston, Texas. Formed in 2004, they made their first demo "Gulf Coast Infestation" later that year. This earned them some interest from 625 records, which helped to release the following year IW's next installment as a band, "At War With Grindcore" EP with 8 fast, heavy noise grind tracks on it. Alex Hughes quit the band and formed the powerviolence act Hatred Surge, later recording a split 7" through RSR with his former band. In 2006, another EP "Endless Execution Thru Violent Restitution" and another split with BOLT STEIN.
