Sparkadia

Sparkadia is an alternative rock band based in Australia. The band formed in Sydney, Australia, in 2004 and centres around lead vocalist and guitarist Alex Burnett. The band found commercial success when their debut album Postcards peaked at #23 on the Australian ARIA albums chart. The band formed in Annandale, Sydney, in 2004. The band started out as a project between lead vocalist Alex Burnett and drummer David Hall. The collaboration between the two wasn't considered serious until Jamie Davis, of British label Ark Recordings, heard their work when here for a friend's wedding.

Ratcat

Ratcat were an Australian indie rock band of the late 1980s and early 1990s fronted by Simon Day. Their combination of indie pop songwriting and energetic punk-style guitar won them fans from both the indie and skate-punk communities. Ratcat formed in 1986 in Sydney and were a mainstay of that city's live music scene until they were eventually signed to Waterfront Records where they released a self-titled EP, several singles ("I Think I Love You", "Baby's Got A Gun") and their debut album, This Nightmare in 1989. Another EP, Killing Joke, and another single, "Saying Goodbye" followed.

Thirsty Merc

Thirsty Merc is an Australian band formed in 2002 in Sydney, Australia. The band consists of Rai Thistlethwayte (vocals/guitar/keyboards), Phil Stack (bass guitar), Karl Robertson (drums), and Matt Smith (guitarist). Thirsty Merc have released one EP entitled First Work, and 3 studio albums; Thirsty Merc, Slideshows, and Mousetrap Heart. The band has sold over 200,000 albums, has toured extensively around Australia, and have received heavy airplay in Australia on an impressive number of songs.

Paper Champion

Paper Champion formed in Sydney in 2007 with founding members Grant Spencer (vocals), Dom Alessio (guitar), Denis Giasli (bass) and Dave Clark (drums). In 2007, Paper Champion released their debut self-titled EP. In 2009, the lineup of the band changed as Dom Alessio and Denis Giasli left to pursue other interests. They were replaced by Michael Tokar (guitar) and George Farrell (bass), and joined by David Nolan (guitar).

The Tango Saloon

The Tango Saloon is an experimental tango band from Sydney, Australia. Their self-titled debut, a tango-flavored album with a twist of spaghetti western, was released in 2006 by Ipecac Recordings, the American record label run by Mike Patton and Greg Werckman. The followup, Transylvania was released in 2008. In June 2007, the band was seen supporting Ipecac label-mates Peeping Tom on the East-coast leg of their Australian tour.

Jinja Safari

Jinja Safari are an Australian indie act, formed in 2010 from a collaboration between Australian musicians Marcus Azon and Cameron 'Pepa' Knight, and eventually joined by Alister 'Nugget' Roach, Joe Citizen and Jacob Borg. Their first national exposure in Australia came from winning Australian Radio Station Triple J's 'Unearthed' competition in 2010. Their sound is comparable to Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens and Sigur Ros.
