The Brian Jonestown Massacre

The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band has had over 40 members since then, but its driving force and main songwriter is Anton Newcombe. Prominent ex-members included Matt Hollywood, Dean Taylor, Jeff Davies, Brian Glaze, and Joel Gion. Their sound is heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s, but also carries influences from shoegaze, jangle pop, garage rock, and lo-fi sonorities. The band is probably most famous from their mid-90s friendship/rivalry with The Dandy Warhols, and ensuing documentary, DiG!.

Swansea Love Story

Swansea Love Story who formed in Manchester in early 2010, are named after the breath taking short film by Vice. The band was the seed of many other collaborations Adam Searle and Jack Yarwood had found themselves together in. Originally they played as a experimental duo using loop pedals and drum machines. Upon the release of their first Extended Play, they recruited established percussionist Conrad Ankers and guitarist Stuart Thornton, previously of The Oxygen Index
The band self-released their first EP in May 2011 , Labyrinth, produced by Nick Gozem (gozGull) of League Liege.

Black Iris

Black Iris, is a label and bicoastal music collective of musicians, some based in Virginia working within the advertising and entertainment industry. Projects they've been involved with range from commercial soundtracks for soft drinks, gas guzzling carmakers and electronics manufacturing giants.to the theme music for Al Gore's Alliance For Climate Protection organization (www.wecansolveit.org). The summer of 2008 saw the rise in demand for the Black Iris track Firehydrant Floods, which was used in a Cadillac commercial, and warranted a feature article in the L.A Times newspaper.

Maps

Three bands go by the name Maps: 1. One is from Northampton, UK. The music is made by James in his bedroom with Ben, Phil, Matt and Andy completing the line-up. Their debut album 'We Can Create' was released in April on Mute Records and their growing fanbase includes the likes of the Chemical Brothers. They were nominated for the well respected 2007 Mercury Music Prize album of the year, which with no doubt saw their profile rise dramatically.

Beaches

From Melbourne, Australia, Beaches are Antonia Sellbach (Love of Diagrams) on guitar and vocals, Alison Bolger (Panel of Judges) on guitar and vocals, Ali McCann on guitar and vocals, Gill Tucker (Spider Vomit) on bass and vocals and Karla Way on drums and vocals. Their debut, self-titled album, released in November 2008, 'reflects the shared musical loves of Beaches, from 1960s hit parades to 1970s psychedelia, shoegaze to prog, southern boogie to krautrock.'

Velveteen

There are 5 bands with the name Velveteen 1: A band from London formed in 2012 combining post-punk, surf and shoegaze sensibilities. Sun-kissed music and melody. Velveteen released their debut 'Wasteland EP' towards the end of 2012. 2: A four piece indie rock band from /Germany. In April 2008, the band's album Home Waters was used as an april's fools joke by the manager of Moving Mountains, telling it's a leaked version of Death Cab for Cutie's new album, Narrow Stairs. The joke was pretty much successful due to the band's similar sound.

Mono Stereo hail from Malmö in Sweden and are one of those rare bands who manage to reach into the back of your brain and caress the parts that will forever be warmly receptive to the sounds of Lenny Kaye’s historic Nuggets package, The Chocolate Watch Band, Brian Jones era Stones, The Kinks, The Byrds ca. 65-68, Gary Usher’s mindbending stereo-panning productions and so on and so forth… Paying due reverence to the musical landscape of the paisley coated side of the ‘60s, with a flavour of the ‘90s shoegaze scene, they have retained their own modern identity.
