East India Youth - is actually one young man. William Doyle, a 22-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Bournemouth, who cut his teeth in an indie group called Doyle & The Fourfathers while still a teenager. Their demo was rinsed by Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music and they completed a couple of tours with the Undertones, but the frontman was already growing tired of the band format and frustrated with the slow progress of the group.
Hailing from London, Echo Lake are a five piece who take the slow, terse noises made by the likes of Slowdive and make it a lot more exciting. Julia Shammas Holter is a classically-trained keytarist from Echo Park. After infiltrating Human Ear Music headquarters dressed as an intern, she wrote and recorded her own release on the label. Her music is witty, surreal and optimistic. She plays without sarcasm in the terrains that divide sentimentality, passion, and control. Her songs are written instinctively, and treated with an off-kilter fastidiousness, working orchestral variety from minimal instrumentation.
Slowdive is a dream pop/shoegaze band that formed in 1989 in Reading, England, United Kingdom. Signed to Creation Records in 1990 and initially championed by the British music press, the band scored a UK top forty entry with their debut album Just for a Day. The band consists of Rachel Goswell (vocals/guitar), Neil Halstead (vocals/guitar), Nick Chaplin (bass), Christian Savill (guitar), and Simon Scott (drums, 1990-1994, 2014-present); additionally, Ian McCutcheon replaced Scott from 1994-1995. Goswell and Halstead had known each other since early childhood in Reading, Berkshire.
Formed by Irit Rozenfeld in late 2007, Oblako Lodka play a delicate blend of rudimentary pop; with atmospheric cycles reminiscent of Colleen, and airy seventh chords; a kind of ambient tropicalia.
Oblako Lodka are Irit Rozenfeld, Alex Nosek (ii, hammocks and honey) and Alexis Hall (The Motifs, Milk Teddy). Former members include Jodi Hoffman (véu) on drums, guitar, melodian and vocals, Shaun D'arcy (rival flight) on guitar, and Zoe Jackson (Light Music Club), who played keys for the band's first five shows.
