Dan Curtin

Dan’s lengthy musical quest began amidst the inception of the techno/electro phenomenon of the early 1990s. From his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio Dan experimented with a vast number of styles, producing innovative sounds of every variety: from Chicago to Detroit to the East Coast. Dan’s considerably impressive discography dates back to 1992 when his first releases on Detroit’s 33 RPM Records and Belgium’s Buzz motivated him to launch his own production hub: Metamorphic Recordings.

Africa Hitech

Africa Hitech is more than a name; it is an ideology - one that embodies its members’ passions for an eclectic diaspora of electronic styles, from soul, dub and acid to UK garage, grime, techno, house and Jamaican dancehall. Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek stand at the intersection of all these styles and the result is a synthesizer fuelled syncopated percussion and bass madness.

LFO

There are 2 bands under the name LFO. 1) English band LFO were one of the pioneers of the harsh techno of the early 1990s. Originally comprising Gez Varley (also known as Jez Varley) and Mark Bell, they met while studying at Leeds and gave their first track, the eponymous “LFO”, to Nightmares On Wax. The demo’s popularity in clubs lead to the track being released by Warp in 1990, where it made it into the Top Twenty. The name “LFO” comes from the term low frequency oscillator, a component used to alter sounds in synthesizers, samplers etc.

Dave Angel

Born in Chelsea, the son of a Jazz musician, Dave Angel’s first musical instrument (appropriately) was a drum at the noisy age of eight.
Not one for conforming, even at the early age, Angel spent little time in school, preferring truancy to chemistry and the music room to the classroom. 1988 and the explosion of acid house in London and the rest of the country seemed to be the major break for Angel, who at the time was pioneering this unbelievable new sound on radio Phaze One.

Jimmy Edgar is the poster child of sound couture. He dropped studies in fashion and design to concentrate on making music, has a background in art production and style. He snatches influences from his native Detroit: its decay, its fashion and its eclectic music scene. Edgar has been stitching beats since he was 10, when he produced sounds electronically and fashioned his first analogue pieces. He was influenced mostly by jazz, funk, street beat and R&B in his early years. Edgar began his career by playing the drums in experimental bands and by making tape recordings.
