The Slackers

One of New York's most notable ska bands, the Slackers formed in Brooklyn in 1991 and have played the world over many times since. Their first release was an eponymous self-released album, distributed by Moon Records in 1993 on cassette. Their first real debut is "Better Late Than Never" on moon ska records. Coming out in 1996, this album saw a movement to more traditional ska music, as opposed to their earlier two-tone and garage influences. It was produced by Victor Rice, a noted ska/reggae producer, who also played bass for them at one point.

Dodge Brothers

Singing songs about transport, heartbreak and homicide, the repertoire of The Dodge Brothers guarantees an evening of great entertainment. These guys are renowned for playing the hell out of classic Americana. With TV and radio presenter Mark Kermode thumping out the rhythm, and the melody and mystery from Mike Hammond and Aly Hirji, this roughneck trio have got feet stomping and hands clapping from California through the Natchez Trace to the South coast of the UK.

Also included is a cover of The Bee Gees 'How Deep Is Your Love'. 2. Shades is a four piece electronic band from Boise, Idaho. JODAVINO were formed in June 2005 by brother and sister duo Joe and Aoibheann Carey. Having collaborated on many different musical projects in the past, the pair realised that their futures lay in combining vocal and songwriting talents. The two joined forces with Joe Philpott of Rubyhorse fame in late summer of 2005 and recruited Humphrey Murphy on bass and Trevor Kiely on drums to complete the lineup.

Dennis Alcapone

Dennis Alcapone (born Dennis Smith on August 6, 1947 in Clarendon, Jamaica) is a reggae DJ and producer. Smith initially trained as a welder and worked for the Jamaica Public Services. Inspired by the big sound systems that he had visited in his youth such as those run by Duke Reid, Coxsone Dodd and Prince Buster, and particularly King Tubby's Hi-Fi, which featured the DJ U-Roy, and the Kentone sound system featuring DJ Pamapdo, Smith teamed up with two friends to set up his own "El Paso" sound system in the late 1960s.

Toots and The Maytals

Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae music. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir, but moved to Kingston in 1961 at the age of sixteen.
