Carmen Linares

Carmen Pacheco Rodríguez, born in Linares (Jaén) in 1951, is without doubt a fundamental pillar of all current flamenco singing, she masters a vast repertoire of flamenco styles due to her long experience. Her enormous versatility has allowed her to take part in zarzuelas (a Spanish form of musical drama), plays and several projects involving classical musicians and musicans from the world of jazz. Out of her works, the recording of an anthology of female flamenco singing is the one which stands out.

Mediæval Bæbes

The Mediæval Bæbes are an English ensemble of female musicians founded by Miranda Sex Garden member Katharine Blake in London in 1996, featuring some of her MSG cohorts as well as other friends who share her love of medieval music. The lineup often rotates from album to album, and ranges from 6to 12 members. The Bæbes's first album, Salva Nos (1997), shot straight to No 2 in the classical charts, a silver disc. Subsequent albums include Worldes Blysse (which went straight to No 1), Undrentide, (co-produced by John Cale), The Rose, and the Christmas-themed album Mistletoe & Wine.

Frankie Gavin

Frankie Gavin (born 1956) is an Irish fiddle and flute player, from Corrandulla, County Galway. He is a founding member of the Irish traditional group Dé Dannan. He is known for playing in the fast and virtuosic Galway regional style. Gavin has recorded and played with many of the best traditional musicians of his generation, and he has recorded many side-projects, including work with Elvis Costello, The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, Yehudi Menuhin, Stéphane Grappelli and Earl Scruggs. He is working on an orchestral work "The Choctaw Symphony" using Irish and Choctaw themes.

Born in the south west of England in 1984, Jacob de Berker has been playing guitar since the age of sixteen, and writing songs from the moment he learnt his first three chords. Direct influences are elliott smith, nick drake, bob dylan, sufjan stevens to name a few but to describe his music tastes as eclectic is an understatement and although not obvious inspiration is taken from everything from classical to heavy metal via breakbeat, electronica and hip hop.

Nacho Vegas

Self-described as a rock-singer-songwriter, Nacho Vegas blends the polyhedric language of rock and the most stark lyricism into an intense whole. His lyrics are painful and celebratory, pathetic and grand, brutally lucid and of an intimate beauty; a desperate philosophy of survival shines with a wicked sense of humour and a longing for the divine. Nacho Vegas has been a prominent figure in the Spanish 'indie' scene since his work with Eliminator Jr, Manta Ray; bands influenced by Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and other similar avant-rock acts of the early 90's.

Daniel Johnston

Daniel Johnston (b. January 22, 1961 in Sacramento, California) is a prolific American singer-songwriter and artist. He has been classified as an outsider musician. His songs are typically painfully direct, and often display a disturbing blend of childlike naïvete with darker, "spooky" themes. Johnston's singing voice is rather high-pitched, and his performances often seem faltering or uncertain; one critic writes that Johnston's recordings range from "spotty to brilliant".

Alasdair Roberts

Alasdair Roberts is a Scottish folk musician. He released a number of albums under the name Appendix Out, and following the 2001 album The Night is Advancing, under his own name. Roberts was born in Swabia, Germany, to a German mother and Scottish father, though was raised in Kilmahog, a hamlet close to the small town of Callander, near Stirling in central Scotland. where he started playing the guitar and writing music.
