Saboteur harkens back to a day in the not too distant past when lyrical intelligence and musical proficiency was not the exception in punk rock. They blend the existing facets of their other musical projects with tough guy pop punk and socio-political lyrics. The songs are loud, well crafted and instantly quotable. Influences range from Gang of Four to Rocket From the Crypt, and they're recommended if you like those bands as well as The Clash, Alkaline Trio and Queens of the Stone Age.
Matt Sonic & The High Times
Matt Sonic began a music career at a Brisbane musical institution, Red Zeds Studios, in early 1996, cutting a demo with musical maestro David Atkins in the wee hours of the morning. The demo, Rebel Riders From Mars, would form a template of the deep and subsonic sounds that have become trademark of his bands that followed through the next 10years. Late 2008 saw Matt touring Australia, from Coober Pedy to Coolangatta playing bass for Magic Dirt, and writing a debut solo album in the back seat of a Holden Commodore.
The Scratch
The Scratch are a St.Albans based five peice band formed in 2002. Influences are mainly found in the realms of classic English rock from The Buzzcocks, T-Rex, The Kinks, Primal Scream, Blur, Happy Mondays, Be Bop Deluxe, Adam and the Ants, The Fire Engines, Killing Joke and Wire, but also include more modern acts such as Hot Chip, New Young Pony Club, Cage the Elephant and The Mighty Boosh and legendary US acts such as Devo, Pere Ubu, Sparks and The Nuggets compilation albums.
Crush 40
Crush 40, previously known as Sons of Angels, was originally formed as a project band to record music for Sega's arcade racing game NASCAR Rubbin' Racing, or EA Sports NASCAR Arcade in the west. The core of the group is hard rock guitarist Jun Senoue and melodic rock vocal legend Johnny Gioeli. As of late, the band comprises of the following members:
