Left Side Brain

In the early part of 2000, frustrated at the dead scene in their Welsh hometown of Swansea, G and Ryan made the decision to relocate across the border to the brighter lights and bolder sounds of Bristol. Simultaneously, Oli joined them from his midlands hometown of Stoke-On-Trent. With a new base of operations established and guitars/drums duties filled, all that was left was the recruitment of a suitable bassist.

Murder By Death

Indiana's Murder by Death (formerly known as Little Joe Gould) layers the vocal sounds of an old saloon with the haunting strings of a Hungarian folk dance and the hard driving rhythms of pure rock 'n' roll, producing what Stuff magazine has called "lush, orchestrated songs," somehow simultaneously reminiscent of Johnny Cash and Radiohead. Added to that thick and intriguing sound are a series of dark and ironic lyrics, combining the mood and tone of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with the narrative force of The Decemberists or a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Sultans of Ping F.C.

Crazy, psycho-happy Cork punk band, singing and screaming about shopping, sheepdogs, toilet bowls, turnip-fish, and Japanese girls. Listen and laugh a lot. Their 1992 album Casual Sex in the Cineplex contained much of their best material, including Stupid Kid, You Talk Too Much and the perennial student-night favourite Where's Me Jumper?, but many amazing b-sides were great too: Turnip Fish, Armitage Shanks & Riot at the Sheepdog Trials

Julia

There are two (and quite possibly more) bands by the name Julia, 1) Julia was an american / band, active in the mid 1990's.
Their style resembled the frantic sound of eastcoast (more specifically DC) emo, complete with octave chords and dark, yet melodic, basslines, thundering and slow drumming and intensly emotional vocals. On many occasions it sounded like Mathew was about to break down. Some members were playing on Lumber. Members:
Mathew Yeager (Vocals)
