Gui Tavares

He has been developing a number of projects to promote Brazilian music, and has played in venues such as Pizza Express Soho, Cargo, Jazz Cafe, the Barbican Foyer, and others. He has performed three times at Canning House, each time receiving a very appreciative reaction from the audience. The three shows were: Nossa Voz (Brazilian vocal group), Poor little rich girl (with the participation of Carlos Lyra and Marcos Valle), and Carlos Lyra and Marcos Valle in concert together (in which Gui collaborated).

Excellent 60s summertime vibes from this Brazilian psychedelic foursome. This one came out of absolutely nowhere, and is easily one of the better submissions to appear in our inbox recently. Although As Plantas Que Curam doesn't boast the same squeaky clean studio recording quality as Tame Impala/Foxygen/Jacco Gardner's most recent records, this debut EP will certainly catch the attention of those who've been loving those records. There's also something about their sound that instantly transported me back to when I heard Dungen for the first time almost 10 years ago.

D.A.M. ("Destruction And Mayhem") was a thrash metal band from Lancashire, England. They were formed by ex-metal heart guitarist John Bury and his brother Phil in 1986, debuting with a 3-track demo entitled "Human Wreckage". The tape received good, solid reviews from the metal press - in-particular Metal Forces in the UK - taking its cue from "Ride the Lightning"-era Metallica and a classic NWOBHM sound.

Banda Black Rio

Mixing R&B, funk, jazz and samba elements, Banda Black Rio, led by Oberdan Magalhães, were one of the first to undertake the fusion of Brazilian rhythms with international black music. Formed in 1976, the band's unique and pioneering samba-jazz-funk sound has attracted thousands of worshiping fans across generations. The band broke up in 1980, but came back together in 1999 in a new formation led by William Magalhães, Oberdan Magalhães' son. Discography:
