The Fatback Band (later, simply Fatback) is an American funk and disco band. Most popular in the 1970s and 1980s, The Fatback Band is most known for their Top Ten R&B hits, "(Do The) Spanish Hustle", "I Like Girls", "Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money)", and "Backstrokin'". Their 1979 single "King Tim III (Personality Jock)" is sometimes considered the first hip hop single.
The Marvelettes were an American singing girl group on the motown label. As Motown's first successful female vocal group, the Marvelettes were most notable for recording the label's first US #1 pop hit, "Please Mr. Postman," and for setting the precedent for later Motown girl groups such as The Supremes and Martha & The Vandellas. In 1996, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

She recorded for Capitol from 1985 to 1987, and enjoyed two more Top Ten R&B singles with "Do You Still Love Me?" and "If You Can Do It: I Can Too!" before moving to Arista. Her duet with Kashif, "Love Changes," earned her another R&B hit that year, reaching number two.
