Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra gives over sixty concerts from September to June in Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall and presents concerts throughout the United Kingdom, in addition to tours abroad. Members of the orchestra are involved in a number of innovative community education projects. One of the oldest concert-giving organizations in the world, the RLPO dates back to 1840. In 1957 it acquired the title ‘Royal’, and in 1991 it was the first organization to be granted the freedom of the City of Liverpool.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (in German: Wiener Philharmoniker) an orchestra in Austria, regularly considered as one of the finest in the world.
Its home base is the world-famous Musikverein. The members of the orchestra are chosen from the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. This process is a long one, with each musician having to prove their capability for a minimum of three years playing for the Opera and Ballet. Once this is achieved they can then ask the Board of the Wiener Philharmoniker to consider their application for a position in the Vienna Philharmonic.

The Amber Sleep

The Amber Sleep is the songwriting outlet of Graham Jones (also of The Exploits of Elaine and the good anna), and a band formed in 2008 and currently consisting of 9 other musicians: Natalie Guest, Tom Denning, Lauren Smith, Stuart Robinson, Nicolar Bell, Alex Nicklin, Michael Waters, Tom Bush and Julian Cole. The group makes melancholic folk pop with dense orchestration, featuring a quintet of strings and woodwind amongst the more familiar guitar band setup, and sounding comparable to artists such as Efterklang, Sufjan Stevens, Antony and the Johnsons and Sigur Ros.

The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets is a band that consists of Alex Turner of Sheffield band Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of The Rascals. They released their debut album, The Age of the Understatement, on the 21st April 2008 in the U.K., and 6th May in the U.S. The album also features James Ford (producer and half of the duo Simian Mobile Disco) and string arrangements from Owen Pallett a.k.a Final Fantasy. The album went straight to number one in the U.K. Albums Chart.
