The Alexandria Quartet

For three simple words ‘I’, ‘love’ and ‘you’ have a clever way of hiding themselves, no more so than in The Alexandria Quartet’s debut album. Based in Bergen, Norway’s main student city and the country’s unofficial pop epicentre, the Quartet have been holed up in studios and rehearsal rooms for the last 18 months polishing a collection of beautiful songs bursting with love, loss and the kind of melodies that come along once in a blue moon.

As a young child he wrote pop songs on the piano, which were thoughtfully preserved by his parents on cassette. He subsequently studied classical piano for 14 years but changed his creative focus from music to film writing and production.

Mon & Tim started writing songs together in March 2008, played a storming debut gig as a duo in Mon's bedroom on 5th May, and then found a drummer the very next day. His name is Justin. Half a dozen rehearsals and seven and a half songs later they were as ready as they cared to be.. friendly encouragement and friendlier gigs were forthcoming at such illustrious places as the 491 gallery/ Vertigo complex in Leytonstone, and the Krankenhouse in Crouch hill. Conditions were not always favourable..
