Carlinhos Brown is a Brazilian musician from Salvador, Bahia. He took the surname Brown from the Black Panther, H. Rap Brown. His music is a mixture of Brazilian and rock and soul music. The music features heavy percussion rhythms and Caribbean and Afro-Brazilian-influenced musical styles.

"X-Press 2" is an electronic and dance music trio from England. Members are Ashley Beedle, Diesel and Rocky. Their first single "The Sound" went to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1996. 2001 saw the release of their album ''Muzikizum'' which contained two more US dance chart entries: "Smoke Machine" (#31) and "Lazy," which hit #1 in 2002. Lead vocals on "Lazy" are sung by David Byrne of Talking Heads, and on "I Want You" by Dieter Meier of Yello. X-press 2's last single 'Give It' was a collaboration featuring Lambchop's Kurt Wagner.

Donna Summer (born 31 December 1948, died 17 May 2012) was one of seven children raised by devout Christian parents. She sang in church, and in her teens joined a funk group called The Crow, so named because Donna was the only black member of the group.
