Pelham Humfrey
Pelham Humfrey (Humphrey, Humphrys) (London 1647 - Windsor 14 July 1674) was the first to prominence of the new generation of English composers at the beginning of the Restoration. He died at the age of 27, but along with Matthew Locke exerted a strong influence on his peers even at his young age, including Henry Purcell and John Blow. His early death is considered one of the greatest tragedies in the history of English music; at his death he had already produced several works of great poignancy and expressive power including the Verse Anthem 'O Lord my God'.

Christopher Hogwood
Christopher Jarvis Haley Hogwood (born 10 September 1941) is a well-known British conductor, harpsichordist, writer and scholar. Hogwood was born in Nottingham, and studied music and classical literature at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He went on to study performance and conducting under Raymond Leppard and Thurston Dart; and later with Rafael Puyana and Gustav Leonhardt. A British Council scholarship enabled him to study in Prague for a year.

Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina
Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (b. 3 February 1525 – 2 February 1526; d. 2 February 1594) was an Italian Renaissance composer and the most well-known 16th-century representative of the Roman School of musical composition. Palestrina became famous through his output of sacred music. He had an enormous influence on the development of Roman Catholic church music, and his work has often been seen as the culmination of Renaissance polyphony.

Philippe Jaroussky
Philippe Jaroussky (b. 1978) is a French sopranist countertenor. He is noted for a virtuosic technique of melisma, and for compelling and enlivened interpretations of baroque cantatas and opera. This has contributed to his unusual revival of repertoire. According to La Terrasse, "this young singer with the tone of an angel and the virtuosity of the Devil has come into the limelight in only a few years as the great new French vocal talent." Alessandro Marcello (August 24, 1669 - June 19, 1747) was an Italian nobleman and dilettante who dabbled in various areas, including poetry, philosophy, mathematics and, perhaps most notably, music. Biography An older contemporary of Antonio Vivaldi, Marcello held concerts at his hometown of Venice. He composed and published several sets of concertos, including six concertos under the title of La Cetra (The Lyre), as well as cantatas, arias, canzonets, and violin sonatas.

Philip Pickett
Philip Pickett (born 19 November 1950 in London, England) is an English musician, recorder player and director of early music ensembles, notably The New London Consort. Philip Pickett started as a trumpet player. He met Antony Baines and David Munrow who encouraged him to try early woodwind instruments such as the recorder, shawm and rackett. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
