Of all the exciting new electro sounds coming out of the East these days - Swanky Tunes ranks among the most noteworthy. The group formed in 1998, experimenting with different electronic stylings in pursuit of their own sound. At first, there were techno sounds mixed with vintage synthesizers. Then the group moved into a distinctly big-beat influenced sound. Growing up with constant exposure to art from her mother, an influential artist in Turkey, and years of classical piano training left her with a professional work ethic and a passion for art. GIAN aka KURD MAVERICK
From a very early age Gian loved music, playing several music instruments and having a good ear for music - that's why he found his way to a well-known Turkish/Kurdish group at the age of 15.
He soon proved himself to be not only an excellent musician but also a good entertainer. His first contact with the "Djing" was in 1997 when a friend introduced him to the wheels of steel. He was really fascinated with the almost infinite sound structures which he could obtain by two turntables and mixers and soon decided to get deeper into this high art of presenting.
