Leee John

Leee John (born John Leslie McGregor, 23 June 1957, Hackney, London, UK) of St Lucian descent, is a British musician and actor. He was educated in New York, later studying drama at the Anna Scher Theatre School. He is best known as the lead singer for Imagination (1981-1992), the internationally popular pop, dance and soul team whose sales of CDs, albums, singles, videos and DVDs now exceeds some twenty-million copies. Starting with the double gold LPs 'Body Talk' and 'In The Heat Of The Night' and encompassing the classic hits 'Just An Illusion,' 'Music And Lights' and 'Changes.'

Keb' Mo'

Keb' Mo' (born October 3, 1951 in South Los Angeles, California as Kevin Moore) is an American blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He first started recording in the early 1970s with Jefferson Airplane violinist Papa John Creach. Creach hired him when Moore was just twenty-one years old; Moore appeared on four of Creach's albums. He was further immersed in the blues with his long stint in the Whodunit Band, headed by Bobby "Blue" Bland producer Monk Higgins. Moore jammed with Albert Collins and Big Joe Turner.

Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival, frequently referred to as CCR or simply Creedence, was an American roots rock band, fronted by John Fogerty. The band started out as The Blue Velvets, formed by John Fogerty, Doug Clifford, and Stu Cook in El Cerrito, California, United States in the late 1950s. They were an instrumental trio, however during the early '60s they began backing Tom Fogerty, John's older brother, for school dances at El Cerrito High School, on fraternity house gigs and in the recording studio.

Mable John

Mable John (born November 3, 1930) is an American blues vocalist who was the first female signed by Berry Gordy to Motown's Tamla label. John was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, and moved from the south to Detroit to find employment. After graduating Pershing High School, she took a job as an insurance representative at a company run by Berry Gordy's mother, Bertha. She soon met Gordy, and in 1959 began recording for him.

The Lost Generation

Chicago soul vocal group the Lost Generation had their biggest hit with "The Sly, Slick and the Wicked," a mellow ballad that hit number 14 R&B and number 30 pop in the summer of 1970. The group members were lead singer/songwriter Lowrell Simon, Fred Simon, Jesse Dean, and Larry Brownlee. Brownlee had been a member of the singing group the C.O.D.'s, whose single on the local Kellimac label, "Michael (The Lover)," made it to number five R&B in 1965. Born March 18, 1943, on Chicago's south side, Lowrell formed a childhood friendship with Gus Redmond.

The Royals

There are several groups which have used this band name. Listed chronologically: Band #1: The Royals were a R&B group active on the Federal imprint of the King label in the early 1950s. They rose to prominence after adding Hank Ballard as vocalist, and as the 1950s went on they were renamed first as The Midnighters, and eventually as Hank Ballard and The Midnighters, who most notably were responsible for the original version of "The Twist".

Shuggie Otis

Shuggie Otis, born 1953, is the son of Johnny Otis, a rhythm and blues musician. He started performing in his youth and released his first record in 1970. He not only writes songs, but also plays guitar, piano, organ, and bass. He has recorded with Frank Zappa, Al Kooper, Etta James, and Eddie Vinson, and more recently Mos Def. The Brothers Johnson's version of his composition "Strawberry Letter 23" reached #1 in the Billboard rhythm and blues chart and #5 in the Billboard pop chart in 1977. Shuggie's albums include: "Here Comes Shuggie Otis", "Freedom Flight" and "Inspiration Information".
