There are at least three artists with this name: 1) A British alternative electro pop singer known for the hit singles "This Dance Floor" and "Don't Tell Advantage Yet" from her debut album "Out of Shadows" 2) An Australian disco singer known for the hit single 'Under Fire'. 3) Polish house producer.
Joe Harriott (1928-1973) was a Jamaican jazz musician and composer, whose principal instrument was the alto saxophone. Initially a bebopper, he is now widely acknowledged as one of the worldwide pioneers of free jazz. Born Joseph Arthurlin Harriott on 15th July 1928 in Kingston, Jamaica, he was educated at Kingston's famed Alpha Boys School, which produced a number of prominent Jamaican musicians. He moved to the U.K. as a working musician in 1951, and lived in the country until his death on 2nd January 1973 in Southampton, Hampshire.
Mike Westbrook (born Michael John David Westbrook 21 March 1936 in High Wycombe, England) is an English jazz pianist, composer, and writer of orchestrated jazz pieces. He became a key figure in the development of British Jazz in the late 1960s. Westbrook spent his childhood in Torquay and went to art school in Plymouth where he began his first bands with such musicians as John Surman, Lou Gare and Keith Rowe.
Stackridge are a West Country based group who were at the height of their success, such as it was, during the 1970s. Characterised by quirky humour and rhythmic catchy singalong tunes the band gained a cult following which continues to this day. Stackridge Lemon were formed in Bristol, UK from the remains of Griptyght Thynn by Andy Davis & Jim 'Crun' Walter during 1969. After initial experimentation and very lofty aims the music begins to arrive and the Lemon is dropped from the band's name.
