There are bands out there that are on the cutting edge, breaking new ground and pushing musical boundaries. While The Skylight Crowd certainly wishes those bands luck, they definitely don’t fall into that category.
“If we’re really honest with ourselves, our sound is fundamentally based on the music we like,” smiles singer Keith Porter. “Bands like Counting Crows, Train and Hootie and the Blowfish are the reason we exist. We’ve been influenced by that genre for fifteen years, and now we’re creating music that would fit into that world.”
The Goldmaster Allstars is a vibrant and dynamic 12-piece band performing laid-back rocksteady, heavy roots reggae and ska instrumentals. The band's sound borrows heavily from the Jamaican reggae scene although they rarely perform covers. They have recorded 2 albums and numerous EPs, working with some of the greats including Alton Ellis, Michael Prophet, The Pioneers, Dennis Alcapone, Tena Stelin, Owen Gray, Winston Francis, Winston Reedy and AJ Franklin.
Zen Motel came together in Essex during 2003, releasing the critically acclaimed self financed, self recorded album ‘Transform and Escape’ the following year through their own label. Lost Harbours is the work of a man called Richard, who lives in Southend on Sea. He plays free-folk, often, but not exclusively, with a lady called Emma who plays flute and clarinet.

The band consists of Nick Brown (Guitars), Nick Calafato (Guitars, Percussion), John Martinelli (Bass, Keys, Vocals), Oliver Rae (Drums) and Luke Welch (Vocals). Solitary Blossom is a stage name I stole from a line in a Feeder song. Since pseudonyms seem to be the fashion at the moment... and it sounds a bit cooler than Jamie Maidment! I have been writing songs since I left school in 2001 and have been gigging in small holes, mostly around Essex and London, since 2005. I have been known to venture out to places like Edinburgh and Newcastle though... When I play live it is just me and my trusty guitar but thanks to the wonders of multitracking I record full band versions of my songs which end up on this page.
