Manitoba
The former alias of Dan Snaith, an electronic musician from Dundas, Ontario, Canada. Snaith renamed himself Caribou in 2004 under threat of an American lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba, who had used the surname professionally since the 1970s but has not released any music as a solo artist. Manitoba's critically acclaimed album "Up In Flames" has since been re-released under the Caribou name and listed as such in discographies.

While the name may appear new, the band is not, known since the summer of 2006 and until recently as The Smile. Initially a side project of Akroid drummer Jason Galbraith, Authors crept into priority over the fall and winter of 2008. Authors successfully smashes the tricky catchiness of early 90's FAT style punk into angular and mathematical mid 90s post-hardcore. Live and recorded, Authors seamlessly seals the deal ushering in a whole new era and style.

Melissa McClelland (born c. 1979) is an American-born Canadian singer-songwriter who lived in Burlington, Ontario, in her youth and now bases her career from Toronto. McClelland's music is influenced by blues and americana. A writer on CMJ's staff blog wrote that McClelland has "a persona reminiscent of a female Tom Waits."
