CHIMERA

There are several bands called Chimera:
1) Chimera are a band from Belfast, Northern Island. Formed in 1990 the Band revolved around the extraordinary voice of Eileen Henry. Sounding like a cross between Cocteau Twins and Cranberries this band should have gone on to be as big as either of these bands. Other band members included Steven Emerson on bass, Willie Vincent on drums, and Ted Laverty on guitars. The album "Lughnasa" (the Celtic God of Harvests) was released in 1993 and had two spin off singles - "Ellis Bleeds" and "Cyan Daze".

An adept guitar, banjo and cow bell-ist James' sights his biggest influences as mountain singers such as Roscoe Holcomb, a distinct style which is evident in his own vocals, along with the classics like Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, or more recently Fleet Foxes.

This seminal Bristol band consisted of a nucleus of Chris Galvin (bass) and David Woodward (vocals and guitars) with Bob Morris (drums) plus various others during their ten years of existence.
Through various styles they created a unique Bristol slant on the 80's which was never deemed glamorous by the press or music gliterrati in general. Some may say that the Bristol scene was insular but it was really about being yourself and getting on with things.
