My Life Story

My Life Story were a 1990s pop group regarded as part of the britpop movement. Fronted by singer/songwriter Jake Shillingford, the group was formed in London c.1991 and inherited the name from an earlier group in which Shillingford had appeared. A cross between a pop group and a chamber orchestra, the band's sound was heavily oriented toward orchestral instruments. At the time of their debut single, Girl A, Girl B, Boy C (1994), the group had a regular line-up of twelve members.

Chapa

At least two different bands share this name. 1) Chapa, a Los Angeles-based musical collective, represents the fusion of intelligent and individualistic talents into a collective that explores the less-worn paths of music, discovering new sounds and aural ideas for the public’s consumption. Chapa’s music has been called a “beautifully blended mixture of classical instrumentation, modern grooves, and timeless stories” and is, according to member Russell Chapa, most succinctly summed up as “orchestral folk.”

Brasstronaut

Like their hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia, Brasstronaut is hard to pin down. Their debut album, Mt. Chimaera, possesses qualities of the fjord-flanked city's unpredictable character. Since forming in 2007, Brasstronaut has steadily acquired the hands necessary to fuse a diverse range of genres and this follow-up to their Old World Lies EP represents the first statement by the band's definitive six-piece line-up. Vocalist and keyboardist Edo Van Breemen is joined by a roster fluent in trumpet, lap steel, flugelhorn and the seldom-heard EWI (a wind synthesizer), among others.

Joker's Daughter

Joker’s Daughter is a project featuring vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Helena Costas. This fresh folk-pop excursion reveals new facets of the renowned artist and producer Danger Mouse, who collaborates with Costas throughout. Born in London but Greek Cypriot by origin, Helena Costas studied violin from ages 7 to 13, then taught herself guitar and keyboards. As she became an adult, her mission came into focus. She wrote songs relentlessly, learned the art of production, and gained confidence as a performer as she played gigs around London.

A Whisper in the Noise

Iamthemorning

iamthemorning is a neo-classical vocal indie band from Russia. Full band consists of piano, vocals, guitar, bass-guitar, drums and string quartet and sounds like prog-rock with arrangements, influenced by Russian Classical Music heritage and various ethnic motifs. The sound may vary, as the band can play both acoustic sets (grand piano, vocals, string quartet) - and then it turns to fragile neo-classical (thought, rather gloomy) collective, and prog-rockish sets when fragility of neo-classical concept is being empowered by sophisticated rhythm section and jazzy guitar.
