The Fumes

1.) Compelling Sydney two-piece, The Fumes burst onto the scene in 2004. The Fumes deliver multi-facetted stylistic raw blues tunes mashed with healthy rock riffs and snappy beats. Steve Merry (Vocals, Guitar) spent 12 months in the U.S where he took on some mentoring from Bob Brozman and an opportunity to immerse himself with many styles of music. It helped define and develop The Fumes. The Fumes complete with the addition of Joel Battersby, who had been drumming with members of The Beautiful Girls, proceeded to churn out an 8-track demo.

French for Rabbits

French for Rabbits are a dreamy alt-folk duo from Wellington, New Zealand. Their songs, often awash in nautically themed language, tell delicate stories of longing and regret. For the uninitiated, their music is reminiscent of dream-folk troubadours Marissa Nadler and Alela Diane or perhaps an acoustic Mazzy Star. Brooke Singer, who previously played in the much-loved Ragamuffin Children folk band and the shoegaze outfit The O’Lovelys, and jazz guitarist John Fitzgerald, formed the duo in 2011 after they both graduated from university.

Shovels & Rope

Necessity is the mother of invention. Less is more. Make it work with what you've got. 2 Guitars, a junkyard drum kit (harvested from an actual garbage heap- adorned with tamborines, flowers and kitchen rags), a handful of harmonicas, voices, and above all.. songs. Cary Ann Hearst & Michael Trent prefer to keep it simple. They have cleverly managed to take 3 separate recording projects and combine them into 1 cohesive, folk rock, sloppy tonk, harmonized, loose but tight, streamlined audience killing machine.

Dirtblonde

Dirtblonde are an exciting Liverpool band, far from the retro 60’s sound that Merseyside is known for. Instead, they seek inspiration in the darker, more exciting side of rock’n’roll – the noise of The Jesus And Mary Chain; the intensity of PJ Harvey; the fresh-faced attitude of early NYC punk and buzzsaw guitars of Sonic Youth. Their online-only debut single ‘The Hangmen’ got rave reviews and had Radio One airplay thanks to Steve Lamacq and Alan McGee.
