Pentatonix are an a cappella quintet from Arlington, Texas, and were the winners of the third season of "The Sing-Off" on NBC. Their members are Scott Hoying (lead), Kirstie Maldonado (female lead/harmony), Mitch Grassi (harmony), Kevin Olusola (percussion), and Avi Kaplan (bass). They specialize in futuristic sounds and techno-style pop. Their name is likely a play on both the pentatonic scale and the fact that there are 5 members in the group. Finest Kind is a project of Canadian singers Ian Robb, Ann Downey and Shelly Posen. They specialize in resounding three-part harmony that is based in British and North American folk tradition. Often they accompany themselves on banjo and guitar, but quite often they sing a capella. Rockapella is an American a cappella musical group best known for their series of Folgers Coffee commercials and the Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? theme song. "Rockapella" is a portmanteau of "rock" and "a cappella". In addition to original vocal music, the group also perform a cappella covers of pop songs. The original group members consisted of Brown University alumni Elliott Kerman, David Stix, Sean Altman, and Steve Keyes, who started performing together sheerly out of their love for music.

The Other Guys

There are at least four groups known as The Other Guys. 1.) The Other Guys is an alternative hip-hop duo consisting of Mighty Joe & Isaiah Insanate Mensah, from the DC area. 2.) The Other Guys is an all-male a cappella group from the University of Illinois, and was founded in the 1968-69 school year. 3.) The Other Guys also refers to an all-male a capella band from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. They have an album called 'Well Sung' and have found recent hit success with their youtube video 'Royal Romance'

Out of the Blue

There are at least six known bands with the name Out of the Blue: 1) out of the blue is a pop-punk band from Providence, Rhode Island. (It should be noted that out of the blue is never capitalized, even in its abbreviated form ootb.) The band consists of the main creative duo of Liam Gallogly (guitar and vocals) and Tommy Feliciano (guitar, drums, and vocals). The current lineup also includes Jared Duarte (bass) and Feliciano's cousin Tyler Lawrence (drums).
